LIBERTY LAKE, WA, September 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Helen Marie Schmidt, MD, Medical Director of the House Calls Mobile Medical Clinic for Family Home Care & Hospice, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Healthcare. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

Helen Marie Schmidt is a medical professional who specialized in general surgery. She holds a bachelor of arts from the University of Washington, and graduated from the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1963 with a MD. Completing an internship and surgical residency at the Virginia Mason Medical Center in 1968, she has gained more than four decades of medical experience.

Today, she thrives in her third year as the Medical Director of House Calls Mobile Medical Clinic, where she oversees the provision of in-home primary healthcare. Her responsibilities include collaborating with nurse practitioners and making house calls. She credits her success to her passion for her profession and considers having the opportunity to help others as the most rewarding aspect of her career.

For her demonstrated commitment to health care, Dr. Schmidt has been recognized with a myriad of honors including the Medal of Honor from Republic of Cameroon and the Outstanding Professional of the Year in Healthcare.
