Maria Plonka Named to Exclusive Membership Organization
In 2009, Maria Plonka received an award for clinical excellence

BROOKLYN, NY, May 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Maria Plonka, Registered Nurse for Lutheran Medical Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing.

Ms. Plonka came to the United States in 1993 by winning a lottery. Her son was born with cystic fibrosis and she wanted to bring him to the country for treatment. Originally from Poland, she worked as an administrative advisor. After her son was diagnosed with his illness, she was inspired to become a nurse so she could help him. She has been at Lutheran Medical Center for 11 years, and is in charge of assisting physicians on patient care on the pediatric, nursery, labor & delivery and postpartum units.

In 2005, Ms. Plonka earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Mercy College. A certified pediatric nurse and certified legal nurse consultant, she earned her Master's in Engineering in Poland. She received the Clinical Excellence Award in 2009.
