DALLAS, TX, January 2, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard W. Anderson, D.O., F.A.C.G.P., a family physician whose practice included general practice and obstetrics has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of osteopathic medicine.
Dr. Anderson has 50 years of professional experience in general practice and obstetrics. After graduating from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1946, he interned at Lakeview Hospital in Milwaukee, WI from 1946 to 1947. From 1948 to 1968, Dr. Anderson practiced in Cudahy, WI while also serving as a physician for the Cudahy Board of Education. He then moved to Mesquite, TX where he continued to practice until his retirement in 1998. In the interim, he was certified in General Practice in 1973 by the American College of Osteopathic Board of General Practice and served as part-time Medical Director of East Town Osteopathic Hospital in Dallas, TX from 1983 to 1988.
In 1983, Dr. Anderson was named General Practitioner of the Year by the Texas Society of General Practice and in 2002, he received the Alumnus of the Year Award from the Kirksville Osteopathic Alumni Association. Dr. Anderson is a member of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association and was Chairman of the Southeastern Milwaukee, Wisconsin branch of the YMCA from 1953 to 1960. He was a member of the Alumni Board of the Kirkville College of Osteopathic Medicine for nine years and is a member of the Board of Trustees of AT Still University, which began with the founding of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has been Chairman of the Sam & Marille Sparks East Town Osteopathic Foundation in Dallas, TX since 1996. He served on the board of the Lutheran Sunset Home in Clifton, TX from 2001 to 2005 and was a member of the White Rock YMCA board in Dallas, TX from 1970 to 1973. Dr. Anderson was National Program Chairman for the American College of Osteopathic Physicians in General Practice in 1980 and was Program Chairman of the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association State Convention in 1985. Additionally, he was a member of the committee of post-doctoral training of the American Osteopathic Association from 1977 to 1982 and served as an inspector for the committee of postdoctoral training of interns and residents in osteopathic and allopathic hospitals for 20 years.
